Shuttlers Overcome Injuries To Make History

Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2019

Badminton Academy student-athletes Aaron Yong Chuan Shen and Howin Wong Jia Hao demonstrated grit and resilience at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2019 held in Suzhou China, from 24 to 28 July.

Both Aaron and Howin had suffered injuries which resulted in significant reduced court time for almost a year. The two post-secondary student-athletes proved themselves in bouncing back from their injuries and achieving new heights, as they made history by becoming the first Singapore Boys Doubles team to make it to the semi-finals in the Championships.

The duo defeated competitors from Indonesia, Hong Kong, China and India at the Championships before settling for bronze in the Boys’ Doubles semi-finals on 28 July.
