DSA – Junior College (IBDP)

2020 Direct School Admission – Junior Colleges Exercise
Admission to International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Year 5 in January 2021

OVERVIEW

Singapore Sports School offers an athlete-friendly International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to students seeking a broad-based post-secondary education leading to the university.

IBDP at Sports School is one of the athlete-friendly post-secondary academic pathways available at the Sports School, which caters to the training and competition needs of the student-athletes. Unique features include:
  • two main-examination sessions which allow student-athletes to sit for the November or May examinations; and
  • an extended programme that provides exceptionally talented student-athletes a greater degree of academic support to pursue their sport aspirations.

Secondary 4 student-athletes interested in pursuing an IB diploma and who possess outstanding talent in sport, can send in their applications during the DSA(JC) exercise in May 2020.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

All applicants must currently be Secondary 4 students (or equivalent) and studying in Singapore schools.

They should also have:
  • represented Singapore Schools/National Youth/Age-Group teams, or attained outstanding sport achievements;
  • offered relevant subjects and achieved good academic performance in Secondary 3 and 4 school examinations; and
  • demonstrated good conduct.

Students will be shortlisted and assessed based on track record, experience, potential to excel in the sport, interest and passion for the sport, and motivation to join Singapore Sports School. Students are also required to clear an interview and pass a medical screening test.

Successful DSA-JC candidates will NOT be allowed to participate in the Joint Admissions Exercise. They will also NOT be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the GCE O-Level examination results. They are expected to honour their commitment to the DSA-JC schools.

Each successful applicant will be offered a place in the Sports School in January 2021 on the condition that they satisfy the minimum criterion for admission into junior college based on his/her GCE O-Level Examinations results.

SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships are available for IBDP student-athletes with outstanding sport achievements.

In view of the COVID-19 situation, to ensure the safety of the DSA applicants, the school will conduct selection using electronic mode and applicants need not visit our school in person.

PHASE 2
Application Stage  •  17 to 26 August 2020

Offer Stage  •  17 August to 4 September 2020
School conducts selection and makes Phase 2 offers.

Acceptance Stage  •  7 to 10 September 2020
Each student may accept only one Phase 2 offer within this stage, regardless of the number of offers received. Phase 2 offers that are not accepted expire on 10 September 2020, 3.00 pm.

Withdrawal
Students may submit their withdrawals by 9 October 2020, 5.00 pm, with the accepted school

EAE – Polytechnic

Early Admissions Exercise – Polytechnics
Admission to Polytechnic Programmes Year 1

OVERVIEW

Singapore Sports School collaborates with Ngee Ann and Republic Polytechnic to offer athlete-friendly programmes to high performing youth athletes. The customised diploma programmes are conducted at Sports School's campus and provides student-athletes a flexible academic programme which helps them balance the demands of elite sport and studies.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Polytechnic EAE is open to graduating GCE O-Level students and final-year Nitec and Higher Nitec students from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). Successful applicants under the Polytechnic EAE will be given conditional offers before taking their GCE O-Level Examinations, or before their final Grade Point Average (GPA) for Nitec or Higher Nitec are released.

Shortlisting Criteria For Conditional Offer
Applicants should:
  • Have represented Singapore Schools/National Youth/Age-Group teams, or attained outstanding sport achievements
  • Have demonstrated good conduct
  • [For graduating GCE O-Level students] Have offered relevant subjects and achieved good academic performance in Secondary 3 and 4 school examinations
  • [For final-year ITE students] Be doing relevant Nitec or Higher Nitec courses for the two Polytechnic programmes and achieved good performance

Academic Criteria For Those Given Conditional Offer
  • [For graduating GCE O-Level students] Meet the required ELR2B2 and Minimum Entry Requirement (MER) in GCE O-Level examinations
  • [For final-year ITE students] The minimum GPA requirements for each polytechnic course are:
    a) Final net GPA 3.5 and above for Nitec holders (including CCA bonus points); and
    b) Final net GPA 2.0 and above for Higher Nitec holders (including CCA bonus points).
