Artistic Swimming: 15th Singapore Open Artistic Swimming Championships


Three Artistic swimmers – Rae-Anne Ong (Diploma in Business Studies Year 1), Caitlyn Anne Tan (Secondary 4) and Janelle Yeo Run En (Secondary 3) participated in the 15th Singapore Open Artistic Swimming Championships from 11 to 12 December 2021. Despite being a virtual event, Mr Chin Khen Theen, Senior General Manager for Individual Programme (Aquatics) said: “The girls danced so beautifully on the waters that no distance and barriers can stop them from creating waves in the judges' hearts.” Caithlyn and Rae-Anne eventually took the 2nd and 3rd place in the Junior Solo event. Rae-Anne also came in 5th in the Open Solo event, while Janelle finished 6th place in the 13-15 Solo event.

Shooting: East Asian Youth Airgun

5 Sports School student-athletes participated in the East Asian Youth Airgun from 11 to 12 December 2021. The virtual competition saw the participation of 46 budding shooters from four countries – China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore, showcasing their skills in the 10m Air Rifle and 10m Air Pistol events.

Weightlifting: Singapore National Weightlifting Championship 2021


Alumnus Yeo Ben Shin and incoming post-secondary student-athlete David Mok Pingwei in the customised Diploma in Business had each registered a national junior qualifying mark en route to a bronze and gold medal respectively at the Singapore National Weightlifting Championship 2021. Ben Shin had switched sport from a jumper to weightlifter through the Talent Optimisation Programme in July this year, and it is the first time that has won a medal for weightlifting.

Wushu: China-ASEAN Taijiquan Online Competition

Wushu exponents, Jolie Goh (IBDP Year 5) and Chan Jun Kai (Extended Diploma in Sport and Leisure Management) impressed judges in the China-ASEAN Taiji Online Competition, and clinched the first category prize in the 42-style Taijiquan and third category prize in the 56-style Taijiquan respectively. The duo has also gotten a third category prize each in the Taijijian routines.

Participants had to garner votes for their performances in the virtual competition. Both Jolie and Jun Kai are among the most highly-voted performances, with Jolie receiving the first category prize and Jun Kai receiving the third category prize of the Viewers’ Choice Award.
