Pencak Silat And Wushu Exponents Shine At Mega Event

2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships


“Beyond the Times, Bridge the World” is the slogan for the 2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships, which aptly captured the essence of Martial Arts. In the spirit of peace and harmony, like-minded Martial Arts enthusiasts gathered to participate in 20 Martial Arts events held in Chungju, South Korea, from 30 August to 6 September.

Martial Arts could be traced back to a long history and has stood the test of times to bring people from different backgrounds together. Singapore Sports School’s Pencak Silat and Wuhsu exponents not only benefitted from the exchanges and friendships made at this mega event, they also brought home a total of two gold and two silvers.

Abdul Razaaq Abdul Rashid, post-secondary, gold in Artistic Male Single event
Sheik Ferdous Sheik Alau'ddin, alumnus, gold in Male Class I (85-90kg) event
Muhammad Iqbal Abdul Rahman, alumnus, silver in Male Class D (60-65kg) event

Wushu
Chan Jun Kai, post-secondary, silver in Taijijian
Cindy Lim Xin Yi, post-secondary, 4th place in Taijiquan event and 6th place in Taijijian event
