Paddlers Bring Medals To The Table

Dr Lee Bee Wah-STTA Table Tennis Championships 2022

After two years, the Dr Lee Bee Wah-STTA Table Tennis Championships 2022 was back in full action. We saw paddlers of all ages gathered at the STTA-Lee Kong Chian Toa Payoh Table Tennis Training Hall to snatch up medals on offer.

Over the competition held from 18 to 27 November 2022, our paddlers in the U15 Boys’ Singles event proved to be strong opponents, as they put up an excellent performance to sweep the top seven positions in the event. Nicholas Tan (Secondary 3) was crowned champion of the event, while Zhou Jinghe (Secondary 2) took second place, and Ellsworth Le (Secondary 2) and Yang Ze Yi (Secondary 3) both clinched the joint-bronze medal.

It was also a feather in the cap for our paddlers in the U19 Boys’ and Girls’ Singles events. Koh Junhao (Secondary 4) and Janissa Cheng Yoke Ning (Diploma in Business Studies, Year 1) each took home a silver medal in the Boys’ and Girls’ events respectively.

Our alumnae did just as well in the competition. Tay Hui Li took home the gold medal in the Women’s Singles, while Cassandra Chew Jing Wen also did us proud to win a joint-third placing in the U19 Girls’ Singles event.

Our young paddlers, who will be joining us in Secondary 1 next year, also impressed the crowd. Loy Ming Ying (Elias Park Primary School) was crowned champion in the U12 Girls’ Singles event, while Tristen Yee Rui Bing (Maris Stella High School - Primary) and Benjamin Lau Yi Yuan (Nanyang Primary School) took second place and joint-third place respectively in the U12 Boys’ Singles event.
