Smashing Success At Global Tournament

2019 Global EduHub Championship

8 events, 8 golds. 3 clean sweeps, 3 double champions. Singapore Sports School Badminton Academy student-athletes dominated at the 2019 Global EduHub Championship from 18 to 24 March 2019. Sports School shuttlers competed in eight events across two divisions – Under 15 and 17, picking up gold medals in all events they featured in. Altogether, they secured 25 medals – 8 golds, 6 silvers and 11 bronzes.

Donovan Willard Wee, Megan Lee Xinyi and Ung Yi Xing were Sports School’s top performers, winning 2 gold medals apiece. However, it was 13-year-old Megan that impressed by first defeating her Secondary 3 senior Alexis Lee Ying Shin in the Girls U17 Singles, before partnering fellow Secondary 2 shuttler Yi Xing to the Girls U15 Doubles gold. Yi Xing had also clinched the U15 Singles title just two hours prior. Both U15 and U17 categories were open to international participation.

Student-athletes made it an all-Sports School final in six of the eight events and swept clean three of them: Boys and Girls U15 Singles, Boys U15 Doubles. They also contributed medals of each colour in the Boys and Girls U17 Singles events.
