SSP Stars Shine at TNP School Sports Star Award
Footballer Muhaimin Suhaimi and sprinter Veronica Shanti Pereira, finalists of the inaugural TNP School Sports Star Award, were each presented $500 in cash and a certificate of recognition. They received their prizes from Education Minister Heng Swee Keat and Soilbuild Group Managing Director Lim Chap Huat at a ceremony at Teck Whye Secondary on 27 September 2011.
Muhaimin was a key member of the School's "B" Division Boys football team that retained the National Schools championship title he also scored a goal in the final. Muhaimin, who is a member of the Singapore Under 16 team, was also instrumental in the Cubs finishing runners-up to CR Flamengo of Brazil at the 23rd Lion City Cup.
Shanti won four Gold medals which helped Singapore Sports School clinch the National Schools Track and Field "B" Division Girls title. She was also named Best Under 16 athlete at the Thailand Sports School Games and came back with two Gold medals at the International Children's Games held in Scotland.
Nur Amelia Omar Abdullah, a nominee for the Award, received a certificate of recognition. Amelia is a national Under 17 netball player. She played a key role in helping our School win back-to-back National Schools Netball "B" Division titles.
