Sports School Welcomes Brunei Crown Prince
His Royal Highness Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'Izzaddin Waddaulah, Brunei's Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, visited Singapore Sports School on 10 January 2012.
His visit was part of a five-day official visit to Singapore at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Brunei and Singapore founded diplomatic relations in 1984 and both governments have since established extensive bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, health, education, defence and toursim.
Upon arrival at Singapore Sports School, His Royal Highness, who is the owner and Chairman of Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Football Club, witnessed the signing ceremony of the Brunei football club and Football Association of Singapore for its re-admission into the S League.
The first stop His Royal Highness made on his tour of Singapore Sports School was the swimming complex to see how sport science is applied to enhance the performance of swimmers. Then he visited the Physiotherapy Clinic to see how student-athletes work at rehabilitation and recovery.
His Royal Highness also watched a SportSmart Skills session for Lower Secondary student-athletes. The SportSmart Skills programme helps improve their fundamental movement skills and physical and games literacy and provides them with an understanding and application of primary sport science concepts.
