Bowler Jazreel Tan Is Academic All-American For 3rd Year Running

Alumnus Jazreel Tan has proven her ability to score on the lanes and in the classroom once again, being named Academic All-American for the third consecutive year. To be named for this achievement, student-athletes must score a Grade Point Average of 3.5 out of 4.0, or better, on all course work.

Despite her constant travels to represent Singapore in all competitions and her tough training schedule, Jazreel has always found time to hit the books and maintain her grades. Her bowling form hasn't been too shabby either. She won 1 Gold (Team of Five), 1 Silver (Trios) and 1 Bronze (Singles) at the 26th Southeast Asian Games 2011 held in Indonesia last November.

This season, Jazreel's school, Wichita State University, saw a record 17 Academic All-Americans from its bowling programme she is one of them. Credit must go to WSU for encouraging student-athletes on its bowling programme to strive for excellence in the classroom and on the lanes. While the United States Bowling Congress requires student-athletes to sustain a minimum GPA of 2.0, the WSU bowling programme requires its student-athletes to sustain a GPA of at least a 2.25. Jazreel is in her third year at WSU.
