2 Up For TNP Sports Star Award
Singapore Sports School is proud to have not one but two student-athletes nominated for the TNP School Sports Star Award. Nur Amelia Omar Abdullah from the Netball Academy and Muhammad Muhaimin Suhaimi from the Football Academy were recognised for their contributions to their sports while donning school colours. Both played significant roles as our School retained the National Schools "B" Division netball and football titles.
Netballer Nur Amelia, who plays in wing attack or centre positions, and has contributed to our School winning the National Schools Netball "C" and "B" Division titles for three years, is also a member of the National Under 17 team. Footballer Muhaimin was a member of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games football team which thrilled the nation en route to a bronze medal. He is also a member of the NFA Under 16 team that finished as runners-up in the recently-completed Canon Lion City Cup. On the school sports scene, Muhaimin scored 19 goals as our School retained the National Schools "B" Division football championship trophy.
The New Paper School Sports Star Award recognises the contributions made by the sportsboys and sportsgirls to their schools in their respective sports. Representing Singapore or Singapore Schools is a bonus but the primary consideration for this Award is their achievements while donning school colours. Nominations can come from anyone and later in the year, TNP will shortlist five boys and five girls for the final vote. TNP readers, along with the TNP panel, will have the final say on who deserves to win the TNP School Sports Star Award. Please show your support by voting for our two school sports stars.
