Golfers Finish Top 3 In Sea

2018 South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship


Singapore Sports School student-athletes and alumni proved to be one of the top in Southeast Asia when they emerged top three at the 2018 South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, from 20 to 23 December 2018.

Post-secondary golfer Andre Chong Wei Zer delivered Singapore’s best result at the competition with a third-place finish in the 12th Lion City Cup individual event. The Year 1 Diploma in Sport Management programme student-athlete carded 72 strokes for par on the last round, to pip Burmese Yar Zar Aung to the final podium spot. Both golfers had ended the four-round tournament tied on 300 strokes.

The 12th Lion City Cup (Men's Junior) is part of the 2018 South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, from 20 to 23 December 2018, which also comprises the 58th Putra Cup (Men's Open), 10th Santi Cup (Women's Open) and 6th Kartini Cup (Women's Junior).

Alumni Low Wee Jin and Lucius Toh Zheng Xian also helped Singapore to finish third in the Putra Cup Team event, with an 871-strokes total. Wee Jin was the Men's Team's top individual performer in fifth position.
