5th IYSC Kicks Off

5th International Youth Sports Challenge

Posted: 1 December 2012

Singapore Sports School plays host once again to our international friends as their teams compete at the 5th International Youth Sport Challenge. This year, eight teams are competing in the football competition and 11 for netball. The competition takes place from 1 to 8 December 2012.

The opening ceremony was held at the School auditorium on 1 December 2012. Mr Tan Wee Khim, former Netball Singapore President and member of Sports School’s Board of Directors, was the Guest of Honour for the event. He, along with our international friends, was treated to entertaining performances from the Attri Dance Foundation, who performed a multi-ethnic dance, and Woodgrove Primary School students, who did a hip hop piece. Mr Tan also witnessed the athletes’ pledge-taking ceremony, led by footballer Irfan Fandi Ahmad, before watching the first netball game between Sports School Team A and Western Australian team Melville, which ended in a 20-20 draw. At the football field, our Sports School Team B made a perfect start to the competition by defeating Brunei Sports School 3-0.
