Singapore Sports School is looking for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:


SUBJECT HEAD, ENGLISH LANGUAGE

As Subject Head for English Language, you will have the opportunity to work with the Head of Department to lead a team of staff in curriculum design, development of pedagogical strategies and assessment plans. You will also be required to teach and mentor our student-athletes in the classroom.

Requirements
  • A good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline 
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Education or equivalent 
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience in local secondary schools
  • Experience as key personnel in schools is an advantage


TEACHER, ECONOMICS

You will be responsible for the teaching, learning and mentoring of our student-athletes. You may also be involved in curriculum design, development of pedagogical strategies and assessment plans. 

Requirements
  • A good undergraduate degree
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Education or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience in local secondary school or junior college
  • Applicants must have experience in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or GCE "A" Level


EVENING SCHOOL TEACHERS

Singapore Sports School’s Evening School programme enables selected student-athletes to train in the day and study in the evening. It adopts a similar secondary school curriculum as mainstream schools and class sizes are small. Make-up lessons are conducted when student-athletes missed their lessons due to overseas training and competitions and they may be conducted during school holidays.

As an evening school teacher, you will be responsible for the teaching and learning of your subject discipline and mentoring of student-athletes. You may also be involved in curriculum design, development of pedagogical strategies and assessment plans in the relevant subject discipline.

Requirements
  • A good undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline:
– Biology
– Chemistry
– Chinese Language
– English Language
– Geography
– Mathematics
– Science (Lower Secondary)
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Education or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in local secondary school
  • Able to teach in the evenings and to commit for at least 1 year

MANAGER/ASSISTANT MANAGER, PLANNING

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Sports, you will support the development of strategy formulation, workplans and performance indicators. You will support senior management in the execution of strategic plans, monitor and evaluate the School’s performance against targets as set out in the strategy map, and propose action plans if necessary.

The job will require you to perform benchmarking studies and research, identify and analyse key trends, risks and their impact on the School. You will also perform secretariat functions at senior management meetings.

Requirements
  • A university degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in corporate planning and strategy development
  • Strong analytical and conceptual abilities
  • Good communication (oral and written) and management skills


COACH, BOWLING
COACH (SABRE), FENCING
COACH, NETBALL
COACH, SHOOTING
COACH, TRACK AND FIELD

You will be responsible for planning and implementing the training and competition plans for a group of assigned student-athletes. You will conduct regular meetings with student-athletes and their parents and submit written progress reports. You will work with the General Manager, fellow coaches and external stakeholders.

Requirements
  • At least 3 years of competitive coaching experience at elite youth level
  • A commitment to values inculcation and character development
  • A deep understanding of sports development, athletes’ development pathways and Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD)
  • Good administrative and organisational skills and be able to communicate well in English

For Coach, Bowling
  • Possess SBF Level I/II and/or ABF Level I/II certification in addition to SG-Coach Certification or equivalent
  • Experience with the use of technology to facilitate learning is preferred e.g. video analysis software

For Coach (Sabre), Fencing
  • Possess an international fencing coaching qualification recognised by International Fencing Federation (FIE) 
  • Have attended an FIE/Asian Federation (AF) or FIE/AF recognised coaching course

For Coach, Netball
  • Possess SG-Coach Certification or equivalent 
  • Experience in teaching and possess a basic degree in Physical Education and/or Sports Science is an advantage

For Coach, Shooting
  • Technical excellence in 10m Air Pistol events is mandatory
  • Possess SG-Coach Certification or equivalent

For Coach, Track and Field
  • Technical expertise in more than one track and field discipline is essential, specialisation in horizontal and vertical jumps will be preferred
  • Possess an internationally recognised coaching qualification in track and field development recognised/accredited by IAAF


SENIOR EXECUTIVE/EXECUTIVE, HUMAN RESOURCE 

You will be involved in the Human Resource functions pertaining to recruitment, training and development, performance management, payroll and benefits administration. You will assist to review human resource policies and practices and implement new initiatives that contribute to organisational success. You will compile and analyse HR data and support in all other HR areas as assigned.

Requirements
  • A degree in any discipline, preferably with post-graduate qualification in Human Resource
  • At least 3 years of broad based Human Resource experience 
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • A good team player, highly motivated and performance driven 
  • Able to interact with staff of all levels
  • Good understanding of Singapore employment legislations


SENIOR EXECUTIVE/EXECUTIVE, STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS

You will be responsible for conceptualising and implementing communications strategies that support Singapore Sports School’s mission. You will drive the communications strategies by leveraging various print and non-print media. You will be required to keep abreast of news related to student-athletes, manage events and branding campaigns, and write media releases and speeches. 

Requirements
  • A degree in Mass Communications or a relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent command of English language and strong writing skills
  • Proficiency in web content management, HTML and Adobe Photoshop  
  • Ability to work well with students, staff, vendors and the media
  • Experience in sports writing/editing is an advantage


BOARDING MENTOR

You will support the Boarding School in supervising, nurturing and mentoring student-athletes. You will also support Boarding administration and operations for student-athlete matters including their studies, well-being, health, safety and discipline. Planning and organisation of activities and programmes to enrich the student-athletes’ boarding experience will also be part of your job scope. As you will need to reside in the school, a staff apartment will be provided.

Requirements
  • A degree in any discipline. Diploma holders with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
  • Former MOE teachers are welcome to apply

  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
