Singapore Sports School is looking for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:

TEACHERS

You will be responsible for the teaching and learning of your subject discipline and mentoring of our student-athletes. You may also be involved in curriculum design, development of pedagogical strategies and assessment plans in the relevant subject discipline.

Requirements
  • A good undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline:
– Chemistry
– Economics
– Geography
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Education or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience in local secondary school/junior college/Millenia Institute
  • Experience in International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is an advantage
  • Ability to teach in the evening school on some days is an advantage


FLEXI-ADJUNCT TEACHER

You will be responsible for the teaching and learning of your subject discipline and mentoring of our student-athletes. You may also be involved in curriculum design, development of pedagogical strategies and assessment plans in the relevant subject discipline.

Requirements
  • A good undergraduate degree in Economics
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Education or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in local secondary school/junior college/Millenia Institute
  • Ability to commit for about 6 months 


DEPUTY DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, SPORTS
 
Assisting the Principal, you will lead and set the strategic directions of the Sports Group. You will provide leadership to the Sports Management Committee in the development, implementation and review of sports policies and programmes. You will oversee the execution of the approved sports training plans and programmes as well as the selection and recruitment of student-athletes. You will establish partnerships and network with parents, National Youth Sports Institute, National Sports Associations, sports agencies, partner schools, sponsors, other external organisations and alumni.

Requirements
  • A good university degree in any discipline  
  • At least 8 years of working experience in management roles and leading teams
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with an eye for the big picture and the interrelations of complex factors
  • Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good relationship building skills to build buy-in across stakeholders


GENERAL MANAGER, BOWLING ACADEMY

You will provide managerial and administrative support to the Bowling Academy. You will ensure effective management of Academy activities and plans, and the welfare of student-athletes. You will establish partnerships and network with parents and external organisations. You should have good contacts with other coaches in the bowling industry. You will be required to work with the coaches to recruit student-athletes and organise events for the School.

Requirements
  • A degree in Sports Management or equivalent
  • Experience in bowling and coaching and ability to travel with student-athletes for competitions
  • Good administrative, planning and organisational skills
  • Good team player and adaptable to change
  • Experience as a teacher or Head of Department would be an advantage


COACH, NETBALL ACADEMY

You will be responsible for planning and implementing the training and competition plans for a group of assigned student-athletes. You will conduct regular meetings with student-athletes and their parents and submit written progress reports. You will work with the General Manager, fellow coaches and external stakeholders. 

Requirements
  • At least 3 years of competitive coaching experience at elite youth level
  • Possess NCAP Level 2 Technical Certification or equivalent 
  • Experience in teaching and possess a basic degree in Physical Education and/or Sports Science is an advantage
  • A commitment to values inculcation and character development 
  • A deep understanding of talent development, athletes’ development pathways and Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD)
  • Good administrative and organisational skills and be able to communicate well in English


COACH, TRACK AND FIELD ACADEMY

You will be responsible for planning and implementing the training and competition plans for the group of assigned student-athletes and work with the Academy on the broader development plans of the Academy. You will work with the Head Coach to execute Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) program as well as the General Manager, team of coaches in the Academy and external stakeholders. You will conduct regular meetings with student-athletes and parents and submit written progress reports. You will also guide and groom the junior coaches in your area of expertise.

Requirements
  • Possess an internationally recognised high level coaching qualification in track and field development e.g. recognised/accredited by IAAF
  • Technical excellence in one or more track and field disciplines is essential
  • At least 3 years of competitive coaching experience at the elite youth level
  • A thorough understanding of the athletes’ pathway, especially in relation to the development of talent and knowledge of LTAD
  • Good administrative and organisational skills and be able to communicate well in English
  • Experience in teaching and possess a basic degree in Physical Education and/or Sports Science will be an advantage


BOARDING MENTOR

You will support the Boarding School in supervising, nurturing and mentoring student-athletes. You will also support Boarding administration and operations for student-athlete matters including their studies, well-being, health, safety and discipline. Planning and organisation of activities and programmes to enrich the student-athletes’ boarding experience will also be part of your job scope. As you will need to reside in the school, a staff apartment will be provided.

Requirements
  • A Degree in any discipline.  Diploma holders with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
  • Former MOE teachers are welcome to apply
  • Good counselling, administrative, planning and organisational skills 
  • Passion and dedication to work with youths 
  • A good team player and adaptable to changes 
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills


NIGHT DUTY SUPERVISOR

You will be responsible for the safety and security of the School and the boarders from 11.30 pm to 8 am from Sundays to Thursdays. You will manage a team of Night Security Officers and ensure that Security Operations such as patrolling and clocking are carried out vigilantly. You will conduct checks of the dormitories where applicable. You will be responsible for the maintenance and accountability of the Fire Safety, Clocking and Medical Equipment. You will also plan and manage traffic safety and access control for major school events. 

Requirements
  • WSQ Supervisory certification or Diploma in Security Management with at least a GCE ‘O’ Level certificate or equivalent 
  • Relevant supervisory experience in a similar security/protection position
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Positive work attitude
  • Relevant working knowledge in boarding school environment and in managing students is an advantage


PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing all the project activities of a complex and high value business IT initiative for the Sports School from inception to successful implementation. The Project Manager will manage a project team comprising of business and system analysts and work with domain experts from all major functions in the organisation and external partners. The Project Manager will be accountable for the overall success of the initiative. This is a contract position with an initial tenure of 2 years and with the possibility of extension.

Requirements
  • A Degree in any discipline
  • Proven track record in successfully delivering major business IT initiatives as a project/programme manager
  • Previous experience in education sector is a distinct advantage, although not mandatory
  • Good practical knowledge of any well-known project management methodology, eg PMBOK, Prince2 or equivalent
  • Demonstrated skill in IT Contract and Vendor Management 
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and results driven


BUSINESS/SYSTEM ANALYST

You will be responsible for managing all functional aspects of a complex and high value business IT initiative for the School from inception to successful implementation. You will be required to work with domain experts from all the major functions in the School and external partners to understand, collate, document and test all the functional requirements of the business IT initiative. You will also be expected to lead and conduct process improvements as part of the business/system analysis. This is a contract position with an initial tenure of 2 years and with the possibility of extension.

  • Proven track record in successfully delivering major business IT initiatives as a business/system analyst
  • Demonstrated success in conducting process improvements
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and results driven
